TRANSFORMATION

STUDIO AKKINO

While constantly playing with perceptions of rigidity and lightness, STUIO AKKINO gives a new feeling of weight and lightness to the MARKE jewelry.

The casted silicone chains tend to give the perception of being colossus of jewels. Driven by learned appearances of rigidity and stiffness of common cuban chains, the casted silicone come in high flexibility and light-weight. Playing with the feeling of heaviness, STUDIO AKKINO take the play of surface and material to the next level, having the articles referencing their roots. Rooted in heavy metals, soft layers of spray-paint touch the silicone surface, making them look like works of solid metal. Touched by rays of light, reflection comes into play, giving the feeling of depth of a night sky.

RIGIDITY - FLEXIBILITY - LIGHTNESS - WEIGHT

ABOUT STUDIO AKKINO

The renowned photographer Alexander Straulino and the visual artist Akke Martiene Visschers joined forces under the name STUDIO AKKINO. Their distinguishing mark are their overprints. After portraying and printing, analog techniques are performed on the print, whereafter a new picture is captured. This digital-analog journey depicts different structures and effects on the prints, which gives the picture a completely different, new face. A very artistic, authentic work-way where both artist's years of experience merge and manifest. In combination with their recognizable light work, this leads to outstanding, distinctive results.
